Oh boy - I can sympathise with you WW and Irnbru - I went through a few months of "sack" clothes - in fact Im sat at work at the moment wearing a work skirt with a safety pin in the waist ! Although Ive hit goal Im still wary of buying too many new clothes - its not that I think Im going to put it back on again but 1) Im skint and 2) Im just wary.

I still wear "cover up" clothes sometimes - force of habit I suppose!! My work skirts are still ankle length. All my clothes up until a few weeks ago were either black or grey - when I went shopping with mum I did branch out and buy a black and turqoise top and a couple of white ones which is unheard of - my flatmate nearly keeled over when she saw me.

4angels - don't get disheartened - I cant run at all (Im not exaggerating) just walk on the treadmill - as long as you're doing something - then again you're running round after the kids all day!!! The weight will come off - if you'd said to me a year ago that I would do it I would have laughed in your face - just keep at it - it will come off. God I sound patronising - I dont mean to be. I still cant believe that Ive done it - it was a slog but I just kept at it. It is "do able"- just seems impossible at the time - keep at it hun flower

4angels - you have to find what is comfortable with you - it may suit your hubby to run - but that's not the only kind of exercise you can do (running is not for everyone) - if you can't run - just walk - increase the incline instead - you don't have to kill yourself either - juts start of at 0.5% and slowly build it up - you don't have to go mental - even if you only manage 2 mins - next time try2 mins 15 seconds - i am the original tortoise in this race - slow n sure still works so what if it takes longer or results are slow to come - it will happen all the same.

Also if restricting cards doesn't suit you - then why make yourself miserable trying that - it's got to suit you Smile - instead of low carbs, why not try low fat - have you looked at low GI foods - some carbs are better than others.

i hope this doesn't sound patronising - i just know from experience how bad it is when you try like mad and nothing happens - its very very hard to keep on plugging away and sometimes you just have to change tactics or take a closer look at the approach and then its back on track.

Neither you (Irnbru) or Stella sound patronising at all - in fact I listen to you two more than anyone else!!

Went for a walk on treadmill for 10mins today after Stella's message LOL, went up to 3mph on 2% incline rising to 4% and then down again. Now and again I can do it, the problem is establishing a routine, this was only in pajamas and crocs though as I still can't be bothered getting changed!!

One of these days something is going to work surely? Problem really is sticking to one approach long enough for it to work!!!

No, I've not looked at Low GI yet but I will look into it....at least I'm not doing the cabbage soup diet....so things could be worse!!!!!!!! What a Face Laughing

I just stuck to low fat all the way through. I also didnt deny myself - if I fancied for example an onion bhaji I would have one - otherwise I would keep thinking about it and end up having a pack of 6.

I dont think there's one way - it's just finding the combination that works for you!!

10 mins building up to 4% incline is great - I am working towards 2 % and if pj's n crocs work for you then it's all good Smile.

Stella, lol at those that know you getting a shock at you buying turquoise. I am getting better at wearing brighter colours, but it goes against instinct - how weird is that eh?

I totally agree with you Stella about not denying yourself anything you really fancy - if i want brie - i will have some, if you start saying oh i can't have that then you only want it more and it's not worth considering no brie for the rest of my life lol - its all about balance and moderation.

hope you are having a better day today 4angels.

I am back early from the gym as after the boxercise class i went to go for a swim - but the pool wash heaving - how dare they - don't they know i like a quiet pool lolI gave up n will catch up tonight or tomorrow Smile

LOL Stella! Oh dear, well at least it is exercise like you said!!

Well tonight I am having quorn tikka salad with mediterranean veg I have decided. I am still on reduced carbs at the moment. There's a very real danger that it will all go to pot next week when we are on hols anyway!!

Hope you have better luck next time with your swim Irnbru and the pool is less busy!!!

I've had a bit of a disaster on the exercise front, I've really messed my knees up.

Realised that all the exercise that I enjoy and that I have been doing is really intense on the knees, step aerobics, EA Active, Jogging all really messing with my knees.

They make an awful noise now and are really hurting. Giving it a rest for a while but really hoping they get better.

Ouch sounds really painful Starbuck! I'm sure you are right to have a break from that type of exercise for now, especially if it is causing you pain. Have you seen you doctor hun to see whats going on with them or do you think you just need to rest up for a bit and see if it all calms down?

Stella, yeay on the accidental exercise lol

4Angels - just a suggestion then - why don't you just put your mind to getting into the healthy eating and exercise after your holiday then - that way you can relax as you know you are going to get to it so won't feel guilty on holiday and will give yourself a break acting like you are attached to the scales with an elastic band? just make a pact with yourself that you will start one day after you get back from holiday - not the same day as you will be knackered and have too much to sort out and this week just have a think about what you think will work best for you?

Starbuck, oh i really feel for you, my knees hurt a bit and am waiting for a referral about it but it is really sore some days, it's very frustrating - have you been to the docs about it? - it's going to be so much harder for you with running after the family too ((((hugs)))) i have different exercises i do at the gym when my knees are sore - but mine don't make a noise too - so yours must be far worse - thats a bit crap Sad - sometimes the only thing that heps is taking it easy - but not easy when you have a young family.

4angels - Im liking Irnbrus suggestion - enjoy the holiday - dont even think about dieting just get into the mindset that you're starting a healthy eating plan (NOT DIET) after your holiday.

Starbuck - I can sympathise over the knees - I know I witter on about not exercising but I do have problems with one of my knees - it makes a noise too so I avoid aerobics type exercise. Swimming and Callanetics work for me - theyre both low impact but you do see results.

Thanks for the sympathy for the knees Very Happy Havn't been to see the doctor yet just seeing how they go, my hubby moans at me though as they make a terrible noise when I move.

Having a real weird today! Having a new set of sofa's delivered today, so had to chop up the old sofa last night. Now were all sitting round on the cushions on the floor like some hippy squat or something. Boys think it's great though, there not concerned at all where the sofas gone just doing bellyflops on all the cushions. They think it's their own personal soft play or something!

Please everyone cross fingers and toes that my sofa does actually come today and that it fits and that I like it!!!

'Diet' has gone out of the window, not because of holiday but because of one of my Nan's infamous visits where she brings a mountain of sweet and savory stuff....and a token bag of apples LOL!!!

Just going to eat sensibly but not obsess too much about it until I get back now!! It didn't help that I had to see the nurse this morning who wanted to weigh me to 'update' their records!! I felt I had to say 'I don't eat cream cakes all day y'know!!' Anyway......

Hope your sofa arrives soon Starbuck! When we replaced ours we got rid of the old one the previous evening for a delivery between 8am and 6pm of the new one!! As you probably can guess, our new one arrived at 5.55pm!!!!!!! I really hope that doesn't happen to you hun!! We were pleased with it when it eventually arrived though, especially as I had either been standing or sat on the floor all day!!

ooh Starbuck - is it here yet? - isn't it great getting new stuff - and could so see my lads doing the exact same with the cushions when they were younger - its all great fun for them - or maybe if it's like a hippy commune with all the cushions you have now out back working out where you could keep goats and are passing out flowers to passers by? Smile

4Angels - oh no not another sweetie overload - very hard to stay focussed when that's around - well not long till your holiday now Smile - yeah i always feel like i have to condone my weight to people by saying about the fact that i am losing weight and trying - its so annoying i wish i could get out of doing that - but can't help myself.

Starbuck, I am sure it will be fine - there are so many regs in place now to protect you from problems with internet purchases Smile

Yup an overdose of sweets...we could start a mini-market from our house LOL!!

We'll wave as we drive past you Irnbru on our way up to the Northern Highlands (20 miles north of Inverness). Must be mad as it'll take forever with four kids needing a wee every 5 minutes!!! Looking forward to the adventure though, just hope we see some dolphins!!

Just started packing, there's so much we need to take to cover ourselves for all weather possibilities!!

Are you going away 4angels?, have a great time!

My sofas arrived at 5:15 last night, I'm pleased with them although it feels a bit high up on them. Although the last ones were so worn out they were dragging the floor so that's probably it.

4Angels - have a great holiday - hopefully you wont need the waterproofs Smile - we have been waiting for a dry day to climb arthur's seat but the weathers been miserable

Mind you am hoping its not going to be cracking today as I have frankenstein legs from the boxerscise class - man it was hard work - this morning i was wailing like a banshee when i was getting out my bed - i keep telling myself that the more i move the better it will be but i just want to curl up into a ball lol so that will be a new pain level if we climb it today hehehe.

ooh Starbuck must be nice walking into your livingroom and seeing a nice shiny new settee - I hope it wasn't too different from what you imagined from internet pictures.

Thanks guys!

Glad your sofa arrived Starbuck!! I'm sure it will quickly wear in so it won't feel as high up! When we got our new one I was inviting the neighbours in to look at it (they must have thought I was mad!) but it was the first new thing we had ever bought and not got second hand!

Have a great holiday 4angels - I saw dolphins and loads of seals just off the coast of Mull several years running so you're in with a good chance!!

Starbuck - I know what you mean about the sofa - I had a really naff sofa when I first moved in because it was all I could afford - when I "upgraded" to my lush one that I have now it felt so strange. I felt like I was perched on it for the first couple of weeks !

Irnbru - I'm really sorry but pmsl at "frankenstein legs" - it'll be worth it in the end x

Realised I've only got 5 months to my big holiday affraid Got to do something about this big belly before then! I've set myself of losing just 1lb per week till we go, should be doable and would mean id be 1st 7lbs lighter when we go.
